About Me
If you ask me what I do for a living, my answer is always the same: I’m an Engineer. No matter what my title says on paper, at my core, I’m a designer and a builder—whether I’m on the clock or working on projects at home. I’m always looking for the next problem to solve.
I’ve spent the last 20+ years navigating the space between high-level business strategy and the gritty, technical details of how things actually work. I started my career in aerospace, building circuits for Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites. Every time you open a rideshare app and wonder how your driver finds you so accurately, you can trace a tiny bit of that magic back to the work I did early on.
Since then, I moved from communications from orbit down to Earth-based terrestrial communication networks (most people just say “5G”). Shifting my focus toward the wireless networks we rely on every day for entertainment, connection, and security. And more recently, the future of electrical power!
Today, I’m obsessed with modernizing our electrical infrastructure. My family and friends don’t understand why I’m taking photos of the electrical panels at the amusement parks. For more on that, check out Fault Fridays.
I believe we can build a world where power is safer, more resilient, and sustainable, and I’m lucky enough to work with teams that are making that a reality. I definitely didn’t do any of this alone. I’ve had many mentors and friends who helped me get to where I am today.
Why should you trust me?
A Few Highlights (Non-Resume Version)
- “One of Us”: I have put too much voltage across a resistor, and I let the magic smoke out. I’ve also made capacitors pop. I’ve definitely touched circuits and wires that I should have checked were de-energized… but I still love to get out in the field and get my hands dirty! (Hopefully not from an arc fault.)
- The “Cool” Factor: I started my career in aerospace, contributing to the design of a GPS satellite. So, yes, I’ve literally helped make sure your rideshare driver can find your front door. Something I designed is flying around the planet in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO).
- Patents & Possibilities: I hold two awarded patents related to critical infrastructure and communications. I’m always tinkering with how things are powered and connected in RR (real reality).
- Leading Across Borders: I’ve spent years managing international, cross-functional teams and navigating R&D budgets north of $1.5M. (Unfortunately, this website’s budget is $0.)
- Strategic Storytelling: I’ve spent a lot of time with customers, on webinars, at conferences, and in boardrooms translating complex technology into actionable business strategies built around customer success.
- Wearing Many Hats: I’ve been fortunate to have the chance to connect the dots across some pretty diverse industries, types and sizes of firms, and across a variety of roles.
